Migration

QuestionAnswer
What are the 3 main categories of causes for migration? The 3 main categories are environmental, economic, and political causes.
How are experts able to track migration? They are able to track migration by studying the spread of languages.
Why did the Bantu people migrate? They lacked enough land to keep up with the food supply and housing.
What was the most influential part of the Bantu people migration in Africa? Their language spread around 1/3 of the continent.
How did migration change people's lives? Migration made people who migrated have to adapt to new cultures and customs and the people who were already there had to adapt to a new person and their culture.
How did experts use language to track migration? They studied two words that mean the same thing and sound very similar in two different languages and figured that they must have encountered each other at one point in time.
What were the people who went on a massive migration called and where did they head towards? The Bantu-speaking people led a massive migration down to the southern third of Africa.
What body of water did the Bantu people migrate along and what did they do while down that path? They migrated along the Congo River and shared their knowledge and learned new customs.
What materials did the Bantu people look for while migrating? They looked for iron ore, charcoal, and hardwood forests containing hardwood trees.
What happened when the Bantu people met and married people of different people? A blending of culture, customs, and traditions occurred.
