5.6 Light

TermDefinition
Frequency is the number of waves passing a given point in a designated time
transverse wave the direction in which the wave travels is perpendicular to the direction of disturbance
Prism are optical tools used to refract light. It will spread white light into the visible spectrum.
Visible spectrum is the name for the group of colors (ROY G BV) that make up white light and which the human eye can see.
Visible light A form of radiant energy that can be seen.
Wavelength is the distance between the same point in two waves.
Reflection happens when light bounces off an object. A mirror uses reflection.
Refraction happens when a light ray is bent as it passes through different media. An example is when light passes from the air, and goes through the glass of a prism.
Opaque means a medium that transmits no light (all light is absorbed or reflected).
Translucent means that an object allows some light to pass through it but not all, and it will cast a faint shadow. Images cannot be clearly seen through it
Transparent means an object that allows light and image to pass through.
