Classical Age An age marked by great Greek achievements
Mythology Stories about gods/goddesses and hero's that try to explain how the world works.
Persian War A series of wars between Persia and Greece during 400's B.C.
Peloponnesian War A war between Athens and Sparta in the 400's B.C.
Trojan War The 10 year war waged against Troy by the Greeks, caused by abduction of the Helen of Paris and resulting in the burning and destruction of Troy.
Hellenistic Greek like; heavenly influenced by Greek idea's
Colonization The act or process of establishing a colony or colonies
Philosophy A set of idea's or beliefs relating to a particular field or activity ; an under lying theory
Parthenon A temple for worship for there god Athena because of her protection
Tenant Farmers People who paid rent, either in money or crops, to grow crops on another's land
Democracy Regular citizens got to participate in government
Citizenship Rights and Responsibilities
Direct Democracy Style of democracy that work's well with smaller populations like Athens. Each vote count's.
Representative Democracy Citizens elect others to represent them in government
Barracks Spartan boy's were taken at age 7 to a place with many little homes put together and were trained and educated to be a soldier

Hoplite Greek soldier-average foot soldier
Phalanx Rectangular mass military formation
Hoplon A shield that Hoplite soldiers carried
Doru A spear that Hoplites used
Corinthian Helmet Took it's name from the city-state of Corinth. It was made of Bronze, which in it's later styles covered the entire head and neck with slit's for eye's and mouth.
Agora A public open space used for assemblies and marketing
