chemical level atomic and molecular
cellular level molecules combine to make the smallest living unit (the cell)
tissue level group of cells and materials surrounding them that work together for one or a variety of tasks
How many types of tissues are there? 4: epithelium, muscle, connective, and nerve tissue
organ level grouping of 2 or more tissue types into a recognizable structure with a specific function
organ system level collection of related organs with a common function
organismic level a person or a body
auscultation listen to the body
metabolism sum of all chemical processes
catabolism breaking down large molecule to smaller ones
anabolism building new structural components (ex: proteins)
responsiveness being able to detect and respond to changes in internal or external environment
growth increase in the number or size of individual cells or material between cells
differentiation specialization of cells for a specific function from an unspecialized state
reproduction formation of new cells or new individuals
homeostasis condition of equilibrium in the body's internal environment
receptors 1.) monitor changes in regulated variable 2.) sends input to the control center
intergrading/control center 1.) sets the range the variable can regulate within 2.) evaluates input from the receptors 3.) gives output command depending on info
effector 1.) recieves output from the control center 2.) gives response which alters the controlled variable
negative feedback reverses a change in a controlled variable
positive feedback strengthen/amplify a change in the controlled variable
