Imperialism A policy in which a strong nation seeks to dominate other countries politically, socially, and economically but do not settle there
Scientific Racism use of scientific theories to support racist attitudes; also, to support the classification of human beings into distinct biological races
Civilizing Mission Europeans thought it was their duty to bring civilization to the African people and assimilate them into the culture
Social Darwinism idea that rich people are "hard workers" so that's what they will thrive and the poor are "lazy" this is a survival of the fittest idea
Scramble for Africa Europeans fight over African colonization and the military force used to dominate them
Indian Rebellion of 1857-1858 Massive uprising of much of India against British rule
