TermDefinition
Mineral nonliving, naturally occuring solid that has it’s own regular arrangement of particles in it.
Igneous rocks rocks that form when melted rock cools and hardens (basalt)
Sedimentary rocks form when layers of materials and rock particles settle on top of one another and then harden.
Metamorphic rock is a result of a transformation of a pre-existing rock. The original rock is subjected to very high heat and pressure, which cause obvious physical and/or chemical changes.
Rock Cycle process where rocks that are constantly being formed and destroyed
Nonrenewable resources either cannot be relplaced at all or cannot be replaced as fast as people use them
Erosion the movement of materials away from a place
Deposition is the process of laying down materials, such as rocks and soil.
Sand dunes large, loose deposits of sand
Renewable resources resources that can be replaced
Inexhaustible resources resources that will not run out like sun, wind, moving water, and energy from inside Earth
Fossil is the reamins or mark of an animal or plant that lived long ago
Extinct species no longer exists
Paleontologist a scientist who studies fossils
