How did the US get pulled into war with the European Axis powers? Three days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Germany and Italy joined Japan in declaring war on the US.
Who was the American, Chief of Naval operations and Naval Commander and chief, during WW2? Admiral "Ernest J. King"
What is "Blitzkrieg"? The use of swift and precise tactics, in order to strike a blow using quick and maneuverable forces, sparing troops and resources.
What was "Operation Torch"? The codename given to the Allied invasion of French occupied Northern Africa.
What was "Operation Husky"? The codename given to the invasion of Italian occupied "Sicily". And sparked the beginning of the Italian Campaign.
The Allied Operation codename given to the invasion of Northern France. The codename, "Operation Overlord". Nowadays called D-Day. Sparked the start of Allied advancement into Northern and Eastern Europe.
What Battle was known as the Germans Last offensive, and consisted of the Major Powers of Britain, America, and the German reich. The "Battle of the Bulge".
What was the Maginot Line? A vast area of fortification between the German and French border, which become a Military liability when Germany Invaded France.
What was the strongest series of German fortified lines, and was constructed between Naples and Rome, known as? The "Gustav Line".
Who oversaw the D-Day Invasion? General "Dwight D. Eisenhower".
How many American Casualties in the battle of Normandy? 6,603 American Casualties, including Killed, Wounded, or MOA. (Missing in Action)
What was "Vichy France"? Vichy France was a German Puppet state, formed after the successful German Invasion and territorial gain.
