Cataracts Strong rapids.

Pharaoh The title used by the rivers of Egypt.
Dynasty A serious of rulers from the same family.
Old kingdom A period in Egyptian history that lasted from about 2,700 B.C.
Nobles People from rich and powerful families.
Mummies Specially treated bodies wrapped in cloth.
Pyramids Huge stone tombs with four triangle shaped walls that met in a point on top.
Middle Kingdom A period of order and stability that lasted until 1750 B.C.
New Kingdom The period during which Egypt reached the height of it´s power and glory.
Hieroglyphics Egyptian writing system.
papyrus A long-lasting, paper-like material made from reeds.
Rosetta stone A stone slab inscribed with the bodies of lions and heads of other animals or humans.
Obelisk A tall, four-sided pillar that is pointed on top.
Theocracy A government that recognizes god or a god as the ultimate authority.
