Natural Resources

Renewable and Nonrenewable energy

TermDefinition
Wind Energy from moving air produced by uneven heating of Earth's surface by the Sun.
Fossil Fuels Coal, oil, and natural gas formed from the buried remains of plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago.
Nuclear energy Energy from splitting the particles of radioactive substances, such as uranium.
Geothermal energy Energy from hot molten magma found inside Earth.
Biomass Energy from food, crops, or other material from living organisms.
Hydropower Energy from moving water due to gravity pulling the water from high ground to low ground.
Solar Energy Energy from the sun that is converted into thermal or electrical energy
Inexhaustible Resources that can never be used up.
Renewable Natural resource that can be replaced at the same rate at which it is consumed.
Nonrenewable Resources that cannot be replaced once they are used.
Natural Resource Any natural material that is used by humans, such as water, petroleum, minerals, forests, and animals
Conservation The protection and wise use of natural resources
Independent Variable The variable that I change/add in an experiment.
Dependent Variable The variable that is observed or measured to determine if there was an effect.
Constant Variables The variables that you keep the same in your experiment.
