TPACK Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Content Knowledge (CK) A teacher's understanding of the subject matter being learned or taught.
Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) A teacher's understanding of the process and methods of teaching.
Technological Knowledge (TK) Particular ways of working with technology tools and resources in a classroom.
Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) A teacher's understanding of the subject matter being learned or taught to the particular set of students, tailoring it to their levels of prior knowledge or way of learning.
Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) The way a teacher uses certain technology tools or resources to deliver or accompany a lesson, or assess a subject.
Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK) An understanding of how learning can change or be enhanced when technology is used in particular ways.
Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) The meaningful, skilled and knowledgeable way of teaching while involving technology. TPACK addresses the complex framework of teacher knowledge.
Lee Shulman The creator of the Idea of Pedagogical Content Knowledge, laid the framework the expanded into TPACK.
