Describe the location of all peripheral pulses; uses of each. temporal, carotid-CPR, brachial-BP, radial-PULSE, femoral, popliteal-CIRCULATION, apical- COUNT HEART RATE
Describe characteristics of pulse Rate- how many beats per minute, Rhythm- regular/irregular, Volume- strength... Strong=3+, Moderate=2+, weak "thready"= 1+
State normal range of heart rate and factors which influence. 60-100bpm. stress, exercise, gender, obesity, age
Heart Rate Number of heart contractions per minute
Pulse force of blood against the vessel wall during systole
Pulse Deficit Numerical difference between apical pulse and the radial pulse
Describe procedure to take pulse taken at the thumb side of the wrist. count beats for 30 seconds and multiply by 2. If pulse is irregular take for a full minute.
Respiration; state factors which influence exchange of gases (O2 and CO2). 1 inhalation and 1 exhalation= 1 respiration. Exercise, stress, age, size.
Describe respiratory physiology; role of phrenic nerve and diaphragm and O2 and CO2 levels. ------>I didn't understand what she was talking about in class, so hopefully someone has this answer in their notes----

Describe pulse oximetry - normal range. percent of O2 saturation of arterial blood. 95-100%
