Term | Definition |

Credit | What a student earns for completing/passing a class You earn a credit after you pass a class. |
Course | another word for a class A course is word for a class that teachers may use. |
Diploma | certificate that represents completion of a program of study You get a diploma if you graduate. |
Elective | a course that is not required but can be chosen by students if they are interested in the class Examples of electives are Band, Choir, or STEM. |
Graduation Requirements | standards that must be met in order to receive a diploma Graduation Requirements are what you need to accomplish in order to graduate. |
Advanced Placement Classes | accelerated and more challenging classes Advanced Placement Classes are classes that are above your grade level that you can take. |
Freshmen | 9th grade year Your freshmen year is your first year of high school. |
Sophomore | 10th grade year Your sophomore year is your second year of high school. |
Junior | 11th grade year Your junior year is your third year of high school. |
Senior | 12th grade year Your senior year is your fourth year of high school. |
Prerequisite | a course that is required before another course can be taken A prerequisite is a class that is required to be taken before you can take another class. |
Smart Core | Arkansas's college and career ready curriculum for high school students Smart Core is the career readiness curriculum for high school students that the U of A uses. |
GPA | Grading system that averages your grades to determine how well you performed in all your classes GPA stands for grade point average. |
Transcript | complete representation of a students academic record (official grades) Your transcript is your final report of your grades. |
