High School Vocab

TermDefinition
Credit What a student for completing/passing a class. Students receive 1 credit for a course that lasts all year, 1/2 credit for a semester long class.( Maddy needed credit to go on to the next grade.)
Course Another word for class. (Parker was forced to take another course so he chose band.)
Diploma Certificate that represents completion of a program or study (YAAY, I finally got my diploma)
Elective A course that is not required but can be chosen by students if they are interested in the class (Kaden chose to pick band as his elective.)
Graduation Requirements Standards that must be met in order to receive a diploma (Work hard in high school so you can meet graduation requirements)
Advanced placement classes Accelerated and more challenging classes (Lilly takes one advanced placement class.)
Freshmen 9th grade (how you are classified in high school) My sister is in ninth grade
Sophomore 10th grade year My mom teaches 10th grade
Junior 11th grade year 1th grade is going to be the best
Senior 12th grade year My brother is in 12th grade year
Prerequisite A course that is required before another course can be taken Algebra one is a prerequisite
Smart Core Arkansas's college and career ready curriculum for high school students. WE love smart core
GPA Grading system that represents that averages your grades to determine how well you performed in all your classes My brother has a high GPA
Transcript Complete representation of a students academic record. When students move they move their transcript too
