QuestionAnswer
Irony contrast between what expects versus what really happens ex. stop or keep moving

Dramatic irony understood by the crowd but not gasped by the character in story ex. when you know more than character
Metaphor a comprehension of two things that are basically unlike, but have some qualities in common with using like or as
Mood the feeling or atmosphere that a writer creates for the reader ex. what the author explains about a place
Narrator the voice that tell you the story ex. Grandma told me a story
Onomatopoeia the use of words whose sounds echo their meaning ex. boom, pow, crack
Oxymoron a combination of contradictory words that have opposite or very different meanings. ex. accidently on purpose, authenticity.
Personification the giving of human qualities to an animal, object or idea ex. Mickey Mouse, Bugs bunny
Plot the scenes or events in a story ex. story elements
Exposition beginning, introduces, background, setting and character ex. introduction
Inciting incident propels the action, starts the story off. ex. makes the story flow
Rising action develops the conflict ex. problem
Climax point of greatest interest ex. curious
Falling action story begins to close ex. story slowing down
Resolution (denouement) final outcome ex. story ends
Poetic justice the ideal judgement that rewards victory and punishment ex. Simba wins and scar dies
Point of view the method of narration
First person the person telling the story is character ex. Jimmy character telling story.
