Salvation Wanting to go to heaven when u died
nepotism Appointing a relative to an important position in the church whether or not they were suitable to that role
Simony The practice of selling church positions
Pluralism Holding more than one position of power in the church at a time
Absenteeism When the bishop or priest did not live in there dioce or parish
Indulgences Buying the forgiveness of your sins it was believed that you would skip purgatory if you bought indulgences and you would go go straight to heaven
Justification by faith alone Luther's believe that a person was saved by faith alone
95 theses A list of things that Luther thought was wrong with the teachings of the Catholic church
Heretic A person who spoke out against the church
Excommunicate To be expelled from the church
Holy Roman empire The title given to the German king
Diet Meeting of the Princes of the holy Roman empire
Edict A law passed by the holy Roman empire
Outlaw A person outside a protection of the law
Counter reformation The response of the Catholic church to the spread of protestantism
