Plateau | Elevated, level expanse of land |
Strait | Narrow channel joining 2 larger bodies of water |
Savanna | Grassland dotted with scattered trees in which rainfall is often unreliable |
Steppe | Dry, grass covered plains |
Ethnography | Written account of a culture by an anthropologist |
Ethnocentrism | Examining another culture from your own point of view |
Empathy | Understanding the feelings, customs, or actions of others by looking at things from their point of view |
Invention | A new way of doing something |
Inventor/Change Agent | Person who creates a new way of doing something |
Cultural Change | When a new idea (or invention) is accepted and begins being used by others in the culture |
Cultural Change | When a new idea (or invention) spread to another culture |
Cultural Lag | When there are barriers and new ideas haven't reached other places yet. The time it takes for an idea to spread. |
