Peninsula Piece of land which projects into a body of water
Plain An extensive, level, usually treeless area of land
Plateau Elevated, level expanse of land
Strait Narrow channel joining 2 larger bodies of water
Savanna Grassland dotted with scattered trees in which rainfall is often unreliable
Steppe Dry, grass covered plains
Ethnography Written account of a culture by an anthropologist
Ethnocentrism Examining another culture from your own point of view
Empathy Understanding the feelings, customs, or actions of others by looking at things from their point of view
Invention A new way of doing something
Inventor/Change Agent Person who creates a new way of doing something
Cultural Change When a new idea (or invention) is accepted and begins being used by others in the culture
Cultural Change When a new idea (or invention) spread to another culture
Cultural Lag When there are barriers and new ideas haven't reached other places yet. The time it takes for an idea to spread.
