Genocide

Vocabulary for Genocide Unit.

Genocide Violence against members of a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group with the intent to destroy the entire group
Ethnicity Identity with a group of people that share distinct physcial and mental traits as a product of common heredity or cultural traditions.
Holocaust The Nazi program of exterminating Jews under Hitler.
Nazis The followers of this party helped to carryout his plan to exterminate the Jews and others from Germany during the Holocaust.
Jews A member of the people and cultural community whose traditional religiou is Judaism and who trace their origins through the ancient Hebrew people of Isreal to Abraham; terrorised by Nazis in Germany during the Holocaust; over 6 million killed.
Hutus Majority group in Rwanda; massacred Tutsis.
Tutis Minority group in Rwanda; Hutus massacred Tutsis
Imperialism Domination by one country of the political, economic, or cultural life of another country or region. A court of justice set up to convict those responsible for the genocide crimes.
Tribunal A court of justice set up to convict those responsible for the genocide crimes.
Persecution Hostility and ill-treatment, especially becase of race or political or religious beliefs.
Rwandan Genocide Beginning on April 6, 1994, Hutus began slaughtering the Tutsis in the African country or Rwanda. More than 800,000 were eventually killed.
