Graphics An image or visual representation of an object
Root Word A word by itself; has no prefix or suffix

Exposition Used to introduce background information about events, settings, etc.
Rising Action The part in a book that builds up to the main conflict or problem
Climax/Turning The high point or main issue in a book; stops building up and starts winding down
Falling Action Where the climax is resolved
Resolution The ending or outcome
Theme The subject of the book
Thematic Statement A sentence tht introduces the theme
Author's Purpose The authors reason or encouragement to write the book
Implies/Infers An idea the author uts into the book that the reader has to pick up on
Inference An assumption
Personifacation Giving inanimate objects life-like qualities
Irony A way words are used with an intended definition rather than their literal definition
