Beginning Zen Shiatsu

Define Ki/Qi/Chi | The energy associated with any movement or transformation in the whole of existence. In the body it warms, activates, transports and protects. |
Define Meridian | Routes through which ki flows, forming a network connecting the Ki associated with all the major functions of the body. |
Define Tsubo | Any point along the surface pathway of a meridian where the Ki can be directly influenced by pressure or needle insertion. |
Define Hara | The abdomen. The center of the body. Center of gravity, center of intuition, powerhouse and source of all the body’s energy. |
What is Shiatsu | Literally “finger pressure”. Shiatsu is a Japanese style of bodywork that uses pressure on the body to elicit healthy changes. Practitioners work with clients’ input to determine the exact healthy change appropriate to each individual. |
What are the five principles of Zen Shiatsu | Relax, Stationary Penetration, Perpendicular Penetration, Two-handed Connectedness, Meridian Continuity |
