Cognates Two consonants produced in the same place in the mouth, one is voiced and one is voiceless
Continuant A consonant produced in one spot and given duration
Dental Pertaining to the teeth
Fricatives Consonants produced with friction
Glides Consonants for which articulators begin in one position and move to another
Glottal Voiceless consonant produced by sending air through the glottis
Labio Lips
Laterals Consonants produced around the sides of the tongue
Lingua Tongue
Nasal Nose
Palatal Hard palate
Plosives Consonants that are exploded by momentarily stopping the air stream and then releasing it
Velar Soft palate or velum
