Africa key terms

What is a rift? A rift is a long, deep valley formed by the movement of the earth's crust.
Where is sub-Saharan Africa? Africa south of the Sahara.
What is the semiarid Sahel? A strip of land that divides the desert from wetter areas.
What is a savannah? An open grassland with scattered trees.
What is a rain forest? A moist, densly wooded area.
What is an extended family? It included the father, the mother, children, and close relatives in one household.
What is animism? The belief that bodies of water, animals, trees, and other natural objects have spirits.
Define traditional. Customary, time-honored
Define impact. Effect, result
