What does TPACK stand for? Technological Pedagogical And Content Knowledge is a framework used to understand the importance of three different knowledge bases in education.
TPACK has seven components. What are they and how do they overlap? The three main components Tech, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge overlap in a three way Venn diagram, making TPK, PCK, TCK, and finally TPACK.
What is the main focus of the addition of Technological Knowledge to the other two components? To have teachers think about HOW technology is used in the classroom.
The TPACK framework builds on what researdher's work? L.S. Shulman
What is a transparent technology? Technology that is so common that we do not recognize it as technology.
What stops digital technology from becoming transparent? The rapid rate of development and change.
According to TPACK, should technological knowledge be thought of as separate from PCK? No. All components are interconnected.
If TPACK is so important, why are there seven components? Each component represents its own field of knowledge, not simply a sum of its constituent parts.
What is the issue with training teachers to work on specific software? It becomes quickly outdated.
What is Content Knowledge? Subject knowledge that is to be taught.
What is Pedagogical Knowledge? Knowledge of the methods of teaching.
What is Technological Knowledge? Knowledge of tools and resources and the uses of those tools and resources.
What is Pedagogical Content Knowledge? The knowledge of how certain subject matter should be taught to a certain population.
What is Technological Content Knowledge? The knowledge of the relationship between technology and content.
What is Technological Pedagogical Knowledge? The knowledge of how specific tools and resources affect the methods of how we teach.
