What are the massage Strokes called? Effleurage, petrissage, friction, vibration, and tapotement
What is the definition of effleurage? A light or deep stroking or gliding movement following bodily Contours dynamically effects body both reflexively and mechanically.
What is the definition of petrissage? Lifting stretching or squeezing movement used to lift the soft tissue superficial away from adjacent structures.
What is the definition of friction? Compression or moving superficial tissue over and against deeper tissue or bone using little or no oil applying pressure into the depth of tissue determined by practitioners and intention.
What is the definition of vibration? A rhythmic shaking trembling or jostling of tissue or body part.
What's the definition of tapotement? A rhythmic intermittent striking or percussion of the tissue.
Which two massage Strokes have light and deep to them? Effleurage and tapotement.
What is the physical logical effect of light effleurage? Effleurage relaxes sedation relieves pain increase circulation venous and lymphatic reduces edema.
What is the physiological effect of deep effleurage? It stretches fiber increases circulation venous and lymphatic reduces edema.
What is the variations of effleurage? Light or deep, fast or slow, long or short nerve stroke.
What is the physical logical effect of petrissage? Petrissage increases circulation venous and lymphatic stretches and broadens fibers breaks up adhesions milk metabolic waste from tissue.
What are variations of petrissage? Fast or slow,skin rolling, kneeding, Big C little C stretching.
What is the physical logical effect of friction? It breaks up adhesions, spreads and stretches fibers, generate heat, increases circulation local hyperemia, release this tension, and improves peristalsis in Hollow muscular abdominal organs, and relieves pain.
What are the variations of friction? Stationary, linear, circular, heat rubs, ringing, and cross fiber.
What is the physiological effect of vibration? It relaxes muscles, increase the circulation, stimulates organs function and synovial ( joint ) activity relieves pain.
What is the variation of vibration stroke? Stationary, traveling, traction, varying depth, speed, rate of stroke.
What is the physiological effects of light tapotement? Increases the sedation, relaxation of tissue.
What is the psychological effect of Deep tapotement? Increases circulation create local hyperemia enhances muscle tone.
What are the variations of light tapotement? tapping and pincemont.
What are the variations of deep tapotement? Hacking, slapping, beating, and cupping.
Which massage Strokes are reflexive? Light effleurage, vibration, light tapotement.
Which massage Strokes are mechanical? Deep effleurage, petrissage, friction, deep tapotement.
