What is a nerve? a cable like bundle of parallel axons that are components of a peripheral nervous system
What are the three connective tissue wrappings a nerve has? Epineurium, perineurium, and endonerium
What is epineurium? a think layer of dense irregular connective tissue that encloses the entire nerve and provides support and protection
What is perineurium? a layer of dense irregular connective tissue that wraps fascicles(bundles of axons). Supports blood vessles.
What is endoneurium? A delicate layer of areolar connective tissue that separates and electrically insulates each axon.
What are cranial nerves? Extend from brian
What are spinal nerves? Extend from spinal cord
What are sensory nerves? contain sensory neurons that relay info to CNS
What are motor nerves? contain motor neurons that relay info from the CNS
What are mixed nerves? contain both sensory and motor nerves
