Heat Transfer


Convection Is the transfer of energy due to the movement of matter. Movement of energy through the air or water. Hot air moves up and cold air moves down.
Conduction Is the transfer of energy from one object to another through Direct Contact. Heat is transferred from the pan to your hand when the pan is hot.
Radiation Is the tranferred energy as elctromagnetic waves. Energy is trasferred bettween object that never touch.
Heat Is the energy that is transformed bettween objects that are at temperatures. It's always tranferred from a higher temperature object to an object with lower temperature.
Temperature Is a measure of the average kinectic energy of paricals. The faster the paricles move the more energy it has and hotter the temperature.
Thermal Expanstion Is the tendency of matter to change in shape, area, and volume in response to change in temperature, through heat transfer.
