inference making a conclusion based details or evidence from a text and background knowledge
prediction text evidence to predict what will come next in the passage
draw conclusions using the text evidence to conclude what people will do or say
moral lesson the lesson to be learned and what the author/reader understand as right
plot the major events in the story having elements that include expostion, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution
incident an event which leads to the main character's conflict
protagonist the main character (hero) in the story that interacts with the conflict
antagonist the character (villian) or force that is against the protagonist
conflict the essential problem in a fiction text/passage; this problem creates the plot
exposition the beginning of the story where the characters and setting are introduce
resolution the end of the story where the major conflict is solved and the ending is revealed
climax the moment of big conflict where the character/s are forced to action and change; if the character/s change, the story changes
rising action where the main character faces incidents leading to a series of conflicts that leads to the climax of a story
falling action events after the conflict that lead to the resolution of the story
theme the lesson in the story or text that the author wants you to learn; you can connect to this and apply this to your life
dialogue words spoken between characters in a story or play
author's purpose the reason that the author wrote a text and made decisions about including and organizing information and details
