Matter
Term | Definition |

Matter | Anything that takes up space and has mass. |
Physical Property | A characteristic of matter that you can observe or measure directly. |
Mass | The amount of matter in an object. |
Temperature | A measure of how hot something is. |
Volume | The amount of space that matter takes up. |
Solid | The state of matter that has a definite volume and shape. |
Liquid | The state of matter that has a definite volume but no definite shape. |
Evaporation | The process by which a liquid changes into a gas. |
Gas | The state of matter that does not have a definite shape or volume. |
Condensation | The process by which a gas changes into a liquid. |
Physical Change | A change in which a new substance is not formed. |
Solution | A mixture in which all the parts are evenly mixed. |
Mixture | A combination of two or more different substances that keep their identities. |
Dissolve | To completely and evenly mix one substance in another. |
Chemical Change | A change in one or more substances that forms new and different substances. |
