What is speech? the verbal means of communicating (It is made of specific sounds and sound combinations that require precise neuromuscular coordination)
What is language? A socially shared code or system for representing concepts through the use of arbitrary symbols and rule-governed combinations of those symbols.
What is communication? The process of exchanging information, ideas, needs, and desires by encoding, transmitting, and decoding the intended message and requires a sender and reciever
What are the components of language (listed by form, content, and use)? Form: Phonology (speech sound), morphology (word parts), and syntax (sentence structure) Content: semantics (meaning of words) Use: Pragmatics (use of language)
