Interphase Interphase - The period of the cell cycle during which the nucleus is not undergoing division, typically occurring between mitotic or meiotic divisions.
Prophase Prophase -The first stage of cell division during which the chromosomes become visible as paired chromatids and the nuclear envelope disappears.
Metaphase ) Metaphase - The second stage of cell division during which the chromosomes become attached to the spindle fibers.
Anaphase Anaphase - the stage of meiotic or mitotic cell division in which the chromosomes move away from one another to opposite poles of the spindle.
Telophase Telophase - the final phase of cell division in which the chromatids or chromosomes move to opposite ends of the cell and two nuclei are formed.
Cytokinesis Cytokinesis - The complete division of a cell at the end of mitosis or meiosis, bringing about the separation into two daughter cells.
Gamete Gamete - a mature sexual reproductive cell, as a sperm or egg, that unites with another cell to form a new organism.
Dichotomous Key Dichotomous Key - Used for the identification of organisms based on a series of choices between characters such as color, shape, size of the organism.
Prokaryote Prokaryote - Single-celled organism that lacks a membrane-bound nucleus, mitochondria, or any other membrane-bound organelle.
Eukaryote Eukaryote - An organism whose cells contain a nucleus and other organelles enclosed within membranes. They are more complex and more developed.
