Pacharis Understanding Perspective

Fact statement that can be proved

emotional appeal persuasive technique where the writer tries to get you to feel a certain way
evidence claims when facts/statistics are used to convince the reader or the product is said to have some "magic ingredient"
generalization statement made about a whole group that isn't always true about the whole group
transfer a persuasive technique where the audience is supposed to accept they will gain wealth, power, love, good health, etc.
slogan a catchphrase repeated over and over, often set to music
loaded words when an advertisement contains a lot of strong adjectives that have an emotional overtone
name calling a persuasive technique where you bad-mouth your opponent or another company
euphemism A nicer way of saying something that is considered negative
Opinion Statement that shows what you think or feel
author's purpose why the text was written
author's point of view the author's perspective on a topic
argument statement of position or opinion
counterargument the opposite position
evidence information that supports the argument
logos appealing to logic or reason
pathos appealing to emotion
ethos appealing to morals or ethics
peer pressure when a friend tries to convince you to do something
