Measurement

TermDefinition
Complex to have many parts.
Trend the general direction that something tends to move
Sample a portion of something that is used to represent the whole thing.
International System of Units(SI) a system of units used by scientist to measure the properties of matter.
Mass a measure of how much matter is in an object.
Mean The numerical average of a set of data.
Volume The amount of space that matter occupies
Weight A measure of the force of gravity acting on an object.
Water Displacement To calculate the volume of irregular shapes.
Density The measurement of how much mass of a substance is contained in a given volume.
Length The distance from one point to another.
Ruler An instrument used to measure length.
Thermometer An instrument used to measure temperature.
Balance An instrument used to used measure mass.
Scale An instrument used to measure weight.
Temperature The degree or intensity of heat present in a substance or object.
Time Measured as seconds, minutes, hours, days, years, etc.
Clocks and Watches an instrument used to measure time.
Graduate An instrument used to find the volume of a liquid.
V = L x W x H To calculate the volume of regular shapes.
Meniscus The curved upper surface of a liquid in a column of liquid.
Metric System A system of measurement based on the number 10.
