Brandon Zydallis, a track runner, enjoys racing around his highschool’s track, which is 0.25 miles around. If he ran 8 laps around the track in 20 minutes, what is his speed per lap? S= d/t so you have to do 0.25 times 8 which is 2 then do 2miles/20minutes which equals 0.1 miles/minute
What is the speed of the flying car that travels 8700 meters in 13 seconds? Speed = distance/time than you have to do 8700 meters/13 seconds. You get 669.23 meters/second
What is the velocity of Mr. Cheetah when he travels 9876 meters in 15 seconds north? velocity is the calculation of speed (distance/time) but adding the direction the object is going. You do 9876 meters/15seconds that equals 658.4. SO Mr. Cheetah’s velocity is 658.4 meters/second north. (he is a fast monkey)
Billy has a car that accelerates at 6 m/s2. If the car has a mass of 1200 kg, how much force does the car produce? f=(1200kg)(6 m/s2)=7200N m= 1200 kg a= 6 m/s2
Amanda wants average speed for swimming laps. There and back together is 1/10 of a mile. Monday she does 4 laps in 11.2 minutes. Tuesday she does 4 laps but in 12.7 minutes. Wednesday she does 5 laps in 14 minutes. What is Amanda’s average speed? AS= Total Distance divided by Total Time 4/10+4/10+5/10= 13/10 = 1 3/10 = 1.3
