Properties of Water

Science Properties of Water

Cohesion Something sticking to itself.
Solvent The substance that dissolves.
Solute The substance that is getting dissolved.
Adhesion A substance sticking to something else.
Density How close the particles are in a substance. M/V (mass divided by the volume)
Surface Tension The hydrogen bond made skin like film that allows thins like bugs to walk on the surface of the water.
Polarity The unequal sharing of electrons. This is the most important property of water. This also leads to the hydrogen bonds.
Hydrogen Bond The attraction of hydrogen to other particles (including itself).
Universal Solvent Water is the universal solvent because it dissolves everything in it's path even more than the ACID.
