How often must a PBE be inspected for validity? Cabin = each preflightCockpit = before each flight
What is the maximum storage distance between a PBE and a fire extinguisher? Three feet
The CA should declare an emergency when fuel supply falls below ______? 30 minutes
What must the second alternate forecast be to use “exemption 3585”? At or above landing minimums for both ceiling and visibility in both the main body and remarks sections.
What justifies “no alternate required” for a destination? From 1 hour before to 1 hour after the ETA, Forecast ceiling of at least 2,000 AGL and visibility of at least 3 miles.
What is the approximate fuel flow per engine at ground idle? APU fuel flow? Six pounds per minute per engine. Three pounds per minute for the APU.
What must the destination forecast be to use “exemption 3585”? The main body must indicate at or above landing minimums, and the remarks not less than ½ of the visibility minimums for the approach expected
What must the first alternate forecast be to use “exemption 3585”? The main body must indicate at or above landing minimums, and the remarks not less than ½ of the ceiling and visibility minimums for the approach expected.
What is a Class A fire? Class B? Class C? Class D? A = Paper, wood, etc. B = Flammable liquidsC = Electrical. D = Flammable metals
What are the components of a bomb? Power source, initiator, and explosive
How much dry ice on board? Max of 5.07 pounds in cargo and max of 4.4 pounds in carry on bags. Must be ventilated and placarded as such(CO2 or Dry Ice).
Definition of Hazmat? Anything capable of posing unreasonable risk to health, safety or property when transported by aircraft.
What is required for a takeoff at RVR 600-600-600 Centerline lights, centerline markings, three RVRs (all controlling, one may be inop)
What is required for takeoff at 1o00-1000 RVR? Centerline lights, two RVRs, both required and controlling.
What are the “additions” to ceiling and visibility to determine lower-than-standard alternate minimums? For 2 straight-in approaches, add 200 ft to the highest HAT and ½ mile to the highest visibility. For any other approach, add 400 feet to the HAT and 1 mile to the visibility.
What is required for takeoffs with ¼ mile vis or 1600 RVR? One of: HIRL, CL Lights, RCLM or Adequate visual reference.
Min Fuel is defined as… Burn, Alternate, Reserve, Contingency. (BARC)
What is Captains Fuel? 1000 pounds. Must consult with flight control if it will cause the removal of revenue.
When do you need a T/O alternate? What is the stipulation of the alternate? When T/O is below CAT I minimums for the airport. Fuel and destination must be able to fly one hour in still air with 1 engine inoperative.
What is the alternate fuel requirement? Fly to most distant alternate at normal cruise speed and 45 minutes thereafter at normal cruise speed.
Power Back? Prohibited at this time.
How long must a captain keep paperwork? Until the end of the day.
What is the maximum allowable depth of slush for takeoff or landing? ½ inch.
What is the maximum allowable depth of wet snow for takeoff or landing? 1-1/4 inches.
What are the general restrictions to FO takeoffs and landings? CA must: Make T/O if < landing minimums, make circling approaches < 1000 & 3, make T/O and ldg w/runway <4,500’ long, make T/O and ldg with braking action < fair.
What is the maximum allowable depth of dry snow and finger drifts for takeoff or landing? Four inches.
What are the restrictions for F/O landings if they have < 100 hours in type and the CA is not a check airman? No Special Airports, No visibility < ¾ mile or RVR <4000, No contaminated runways, No braking action < good, No crosswind > 15 kts, no windshear reported, CA discretion.
What are the veteran F/O restrictions? Less than CAT I take-offs, Circling less than VFR (N/A), Runways less than 4500’, Breaking action poor or nil, CA discretion.
High Min Captain Restrictions? First 100 hours. Make all T/O and landing, add 100 & ½ to IAP (destination only, but no less than 300 1). F/O must have at least 75 hours in type (including IOE).
How often are VOR checks done? Every day (TSA Policy) 30 days (FAA).
What are the MEL codes? A- Specified timeB- 3 days (end at midnight).C- 10 days (end at midnight).D- 120 days (end at midnight).
How often shall a LC be done? Every 48 hours.
How far away from TS? TSA policy 20 nm
What are the holding Speeds? Up to 6,000’-200 KIAS; 6,001-14,000’-230 KIAS; Above 14,000’-265 KIAS.
When is a child considered a child? How much do they weigh Over 24 months and has not reached their 13th birthday. Summer 76 pounds, Winter 81 pounds.
How much does and adult PAX weigh? Summer 184 pounds, winter 189 pounds.
What is the assumed weight of a FA? 170 pounds
What is the assumed weight of the Pilots and ACM 190 pounds
What is the maximum aft baggage weight not requiring a net? 2182 pounds
What is the maximum weight in the aft baggage compartment? Closet? 2,646 pounds and 100 or 154 pounds (placarded), respectively
What is the assumed weight of checked bags? Additional carry-ons? 30 lbs20 lbs
What is the assumed weight of each heavy checked bag? 60 pounds
What is the weight of a bag in excess of 100 pounds? Its actual weight
What seat rows are included in each cabin section. A=1-3, B=4-7, C=8-11, D=12-14, E=15-18
What must be done to compensate for an inoperative FA jumpseat? The correction +.03 is entered in the WB computer and they sit in seat 1A.
What must be done when there is no FA onbord? Wheel her out.

Abort T/o, Bird Strike, Engine Shutdown, A/C Damage, Deviat from ATC Instruct, Near mid-air coll, TCAS RA, Equip Malf causing deviat frm norm ops, Exerc Emergency Auth, Intox Pax, Gov’t Invest of Crew, Crime Committed aboard aircraft
Single Engine Turns? CA must be at ctrl with thrust at idle, parking break set, F/A on board, No PAX boarded or deplaned while adjacent engine running. Engine 1 on and engine 2 off for fueling, Engine 1 off and engine 2 on for boarding. If airstairs, agent must be at steps.
What are the requirements for LAHSO? Dry rwy, Vis Vert Guid, Must have elec gs,No tailwind. Wx Mins: Clear rec’d abv 1000, W/VASI or PAPI: 1000/3, Othr Vis Guide: 1500/5, No wshr rpt prev 20 min, not requ go-around instr unless pub (back of apt dia), LAHSO light must be inst & work @ nite

What is the marginal rule for a second alternate? If the destination weather is forecast to be less than 1000/3 and the first alternate is forecasted to be less than 600/2. Note: when all forecast conditions are not met in reguards to ceil and vis at the dest and 1st alt, a 2nd alt is required.
When must dispatch be contacted if re-routed by atc? If the re-route more than 15 minutes enroute.
