inertia The tendency of a moving object to continue in a straight line or a stationary object to remain in place.
Greenhouse effect The trapping of heat by a planet's atmosphere
Gravity The attractive force between two objects; its magnitude depends on their masses and the distance between them.
Orbit The path of Earth as it revolves around the sun
Meteroid A chunk of rock or dust in space
Corona The outer layer of the sun's atmosphere
Eclipse The partial or total blocking of one object by another
Latitude A measurement of distance from the equator, expressed in degrees North or South
axis Line passing through Earth's center and poles
asteroids Objects revolving around the sun that are too small and too numerous to b considered planets.
Umbra The darkest part of a shadow
Nuclear fusion The process by which hydrogen atoms join together to form helium, releasing energy
