Buddhism a religion practiced first by the Chinese and Korean people that spread to Japan. Followers worship the Buddha
Prince Shotoku The first emperor of Japan
Kanji A Japanese form of writing that includes pictures
Tanka A form of poetry developed by the Japanese
pagoda A Japanese style of building with several roofs
Stupa An Indian style of building that featured a rounded roof
Gagaku A Chinese style of music
Sheng (Sho) An instrument that the Chinese used, and was eventually turned into a Japanese instrument
