Plymouth Terms

Use these terms for the test on January 15

People/Terms/ DatesAnswer
Plymouth The first English colony in Massachusetts. Founded by separatists of the Church of England.
Separatists People who wanted to separate from the Church of England. Today we refer to them as pilgrims.
Strangers People who travelled on the Mayflower that were not separatists.
William Bradford An important governor of the Plymouth colony.
Wampanoags The Native American tribe that lived in Massachusetts colony.
Massasoit The leader of the Wampanoags. Started an alliance with the separatists.
Tisquanto A Native American who helped the separatists to survive in the New World. He lived with the pilgrims because they lived in his former village and he feared being arrested by Massasoit.
Mayflower Compact A document designed by the separatists that promoted a government based on self government in the New World.
1620 The year the separatists settled in the Plymouth, Massachusetts
