Fables | short tale to teach a moral lesson, often with animals or inanimate objects as the characters |
Capsized | to turn bottom up, overturn |
Gulp | to swallow eagerly |
Quiver | to shake with a slight but rapid motion |
Diet | food or drink you normally have |
Neighbor | one who lives close to you |
Spoil | to become unfit to use, eat, or drink |
Impolite | not showing good manners |
Loan | to give someone something and expect that it will be returned |
Sash | piece of cloth worn over the shoulder or around the waist |
Shattered | broken into many pieces |
Jealous | feeling unhappy because someone has something that you do not |
Ball | a big, fancy party with dancing |
Midnight | 12:00 in the morning when it is dark |
Widow | person whose wife or husband has died |
Cottage | a small house, usually only one story |
Disposition | the way someone looks at life; a cheerful disposition means you look at things in a happy, cheerful way |
Harp | a musical instrument consisting of a triangular frame formed by a curved neck and having strings that are plucked with the fingers |
