TermDefinition
Astronomy The study of moons, stars, and other objects in Space.
Astronomer A scientist who studies the universe beyond Earth
Rotation The spinning movement of a planet on it's axis.
Revoloution The movement of an object around another object
Orbit The path of an object as it revolves around another in space.
Constellation An imaginary pattern of stars in the sky
Geocentric Theory Theory that everything in our solar system revolved around the Earth.
Heliocentric Theory A model of the solar system whee everything in it revolves around the sun.
Comet A loose collection of ice, dust, and small rocky particles with a long orbit of the sun.
Solar System The sun, its planets, and all other objects in orbit around the sun or planets.
Gravity The force that pulls objects towards each other.
NASA Acronym for National Aeronautic and Space Administration
Meteor A streak of light in the sky produced by the burning of a meteoroid in Earth's atmosphere.
Telescope A device built to observe distant objects in space.
Solstice When one part of the day is longer than the other.
Equinox Day and night are equal.
Equator The imaginary line separating the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Axis An imaginary line about which a body rotates.
