Definitions of Genetic words i don't yet know

TermDefinition
Karyotype The number and visual apppearance of the chromosones in cell nuclei of an organism or species.
Amino Acid A simple organic compound containing both a carboxyl and an amino group.
Genotype The genetic consumption of an individual organism.
Phenotype The set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.
Mitosis A type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosones as the parent nucleus.
Meiosis A type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half the number of chromosones of the parent cell.
Dominant A gene that is just one that is more likely and able to present itself than a recessive gene
Recessive The opposite of dominant
Co-Dormant Relating to two alleles of a gene pair in a heterozygote that are both fully expressed.
Incompletely dominant is a type of inheritance in which one allele for a specific trait is not completely dominant over the other allele.
Mandelian ratios the ratio of occurance of various phenotypes in any cross involving mendelian characters.
Monohybrid cross is the study of the inheritance of one characteristic.
Polygenic inheritance occurs when one characteristic is controlled by two or more genes.
Autosomal Autosomal is a chromosone that is not an allosone.
