What was a patron? someone who paid artists to paint
What do Greece and Rome have to do with the Renaissance? Greece and Rome contributed most of the arts and knowledge of the Renaissance.
What is a Gondola? Where would you find one? A gondola is a type of boat. You would find one in Venice, on a canal.
Why did the popes decide to become patrons of the arts? Popes decided to become patrons because when they look at art, they think of god, and they wanted to decorate their churches to make them look better.
In Machiavelli’s opinion, what is the chief goal of a prince? The chief goal of a prince is to have people fear you, rather than love you.
What does it mean when we hear someone described as “Machiavellian?” A Machiavellian is someone who would do anything to get and keep power.
Did Machiavelli believe that rulers should always keep their word and tell the truth? If not, what did he believe? Machiavelli did not believe that rulers should always tell the truth. He believed that if it would hurt them, they should not tell the truth.
