cite To quote the exact words from text or to tell the reader where the material came from.
compare to identify ways that two or more things are similar
contrast To identify ways two or more things differ
determine To discover the facts about something, or to calculate exactly
develop To make an idea or message clearer by adding details or commentary
draw To develop a specific idea or come to a conclusion after you have read or studied information
evaluate To make a judgement about the value of something
evidence The facts, signs or objects that make you believe that something is true
explain To tell something in a way that makes it easy to understand, using appropriate examples, evidence and details
explicit Information that is clearly shown or expressed leaving no doubt about the meaning
identify To point out or highlight the significant details or facts of a central idea or experience
implicit Something that can be understood through not clearly or directly stated
infer To combine evidence from text or an experience with your background knowledge to reach a conclusion or to decide if something is true
