QuestionAnswer
What does the nucleus do? Brain of the cell; tells what to do; stores DNA
What does the cell membrane do? Controls what comes in and out of the cell
What does the cell wall do? It is a tough outer covering; provides support
What do the ribosomes do? Uses DNA to assemble materials needed to make protein
What does the Endoplasmic Reticulum do? Makes proteins and other materials a cell needs to function.
What does the Golgi Apparatus do? Finishes processing proteins and transports them
What does the vesicle do? Stores and transports materials and wastes
What does a mitochondrion do? Releases chemical energy stored in sugars.
What do chloroplasts do? Uses energy from sunlight to make sugars.
What do lysosomes do? breaks down food particles and waste
What does multicellular mean? Made of more than one cell.
What does it mean that cells are specialized? When cells have a specific job.
List the organism parts in order. Cells, tissues, organs, organ systems.
Give an example of a tissue. Muscle
Give an example of an organ. Heart
What type of cell is box-like? Plant Cell
What does a plant cell have that animal cells don't? Chloroplast and cell wall
What type of cell is not a set shape? Animal Cell
