Carrying Capacity | the number of organisms that can live in an area |
predator | an animal that hunts and eats an another animal |
prey | any animal that is hunted by others for food |
producers | make their own food for energy |
consumers | organisms that cannot make their own food |
decomposers | organisms that get their energy by breaking down wastes and dead organisms |
herbivores | eat only plants |
carnivores | eat only meat |
omnivores | eat plants and meat |
scavengers | eat only dead animals |
food chain | a series of steps showing how energy moves from biotic factors to another |
food web | a diagram of many food chains |
symbiosis | a long-term relationship between two organisms |
parasites | they live inside or outside another organism taking nutrients from that organism |
