TermDefinition
Atom Is the smallest particle into which an element can be divided and still be the same element.
Electrons Negative charged particles
Nucleas A small dense center that has a positive charged is surrounded by moving electrons.
Protons A positively charged particle.
Atomic number is the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
Mass Number is the total number of protons and neutrons in an atoms nucleus
periodic table is the arrangement of the elements created by Mendeleev.
Chemical Symbol Is an abbreviation for the elements name.
Average atomic massy is the atoms average weighted masses of all the naturally occurring isotopes of the elements.
Metals Are elements that are shiny and conduct heat and electricity well.
Nonmetals are poor conductors of heat and electricity.
Metalloids Are elements that have some metalloids are used to make semiconductor chips in computer
Group vertical cloumns of elements on the periodic table.
Period is the horizontal row of elements on the periodic table
Chemical bond is an interaction that holds atoms or ions together
Valance electrons is the electrons found in the outermost energy level of an atom.
