Waves
Term | Definition |

Wave | Is a disturbance that moves through matter or space. |
Transverse | It cause particles in matter to move back and forth at right angles. |
Compressional | Causes particles in matter to move back and forth along the same direction in which wave travels. |
Wavelength | The distance between one point on a wave and the nearest point moving with the same speed and direction. |
Law of Reflection | The angles that the incoming wave makes with the normal equals the angles that the outgoing wave makes with the normal |
Refraction | Change in a direction of a wave. |
Diffraction | Bending of waves around an object. |
Frequency | The wave is the number of wavelengths that pass by a point each second. |
Opaque | Materials allows no light through. |
Translucent | Material that absorbs light. |
transparent | Material allows nearly all light to pass through. |
Reflect | A light hitting an object and bouncing off. |
Absorb | Take in or soak up. |
Transmit | cause something to pass through something. |
