Matter

QuestionAnswer
What is matter? Anything that has mass and takes up space.
What is a physical property? How matter looks, feels, smells, sounds, and tastes.
What is a chemical property? Something that tells how matter can change into new kinds of matter.
What are the three states of matter? Solid, Liquid, and Gas
What is a solid? Things that we can see and touch.
What is a liquid? Something that can change it's form and is wet.
What is a gas? Things like air that you cant see.
What is mass? The amount of matter in an object?
What is volume? How much space matter takes up?
Where can you find matter? Everywhere, matter is everything that takes up space.
What are some properties of a physical change? Color, hardness, and being able to stick to magnets.
What are some properties of a chemical change? Catching fire and burning and rusting.
What are some kinds of mixtures? Solutions and things like salads that we eat.
What is a solution? A mixture where three parts are very evenly mixed together.
What are words we use to describe matter? Properties.
Can a solid change it's shape? No, but a liquid can.
What are objects? Things we conceive and touch.
What do we use to help understand objects? Our five senses.
What are the five senses? See, Hear, Touch, Smell, Taste
What is it to see? To look at things.
What is it to hear? To listen.
What is it to taste? To eat things and get their flavor.
What is it to smell? To sniff your surroundings.
What is it to touch? To feel things.
