How many phases of meiosis is there? 8.
What is the difference between a diploid and a haploid cell. A diploid cell has a complete set of chromosomes, or 46 whereas haploid cells only have half of a set of chromosomes, or 23.
What are the male and females sex cells, respectively? Sperm cell, egg cell.
What is the advantage of sexual reproduction? It allows for more genetic variation instead of all of the species being the same.
What are the disadvantages of sexual reproduction? It takes time and effort to find a mate, many organisms are not able to reproduce until adolescence.
What is a tetrad? A tetrad is two chromosomes connected it forms in Prophase I. They do not form in Prophase II.
At the end of Meiosis how many cells are there? 4.
What is coiled up chromosome called? Chromatin.
How is an egg fertilized? Sperm cells fertilize it and they form a zygote.
What is meiosis? It is how sex cells multiply.
What are the two types of cells? Sex cells and body cells.
True or False. Every organism has the same amount of chromosomes. False. They all have different amounts of chromosomes.
What do chromosomes do every prophase? Condense.
How many chromosomes do humans have? 46.
True or False. Interphase is not a part of meiosis. True. It is only before meiosis.
