what is kinetic energy? energy in motion.
what is potential energy? stored energy; EX- rubber band stretched in your hand.
what are the forms of energy? mechanical, chemical, electromagnetic, electrical, nuclear, thermal.
what is mechanical energy? associated with movement; EX- car moving, frog leaping trough air.
what is chemical energy? stored in chemical bonds; stored in foods.
what is electromagnetic energy? travels in waves (light energy) EX light from sun.
what is electrical energy? moving electric charges: EX energy in power lines.
what is nuclear energy? stored in nucleolus of an atom; EX nuclear power plants.
what is thermal energy? energy of moving particles in an object. EX ice cream melting.
what is the energy path of a toaster? sun- air- windmill- toaster. AND sun- water- dam- toaster.
what is the energy path of a stereo? sun- air- windmill- stereo. AND sun- water- dam- stereo.
what is the energy path of a lamp? sun- solar panel- lamp. AND sun- corn- ethanol plant- lamp.
what happens during condensation? thermal energy decreases as gas turns into liquid in a cloud.
what happens during evaporation? thermal energy increases as liquid turns to gas
what happens during collection? thermal energy stays fairly consistent.
what happens during precipitation? thermal energy stays fairly consistent.
what happens to the thermal energy in a solid? thermal energy is the least particles moving slow.
what happens to the thermal energy in a liquid? thermal energy is mediocre.
what happens to the thermal energy in a gas? there is lots of thermal energy because the particles are moving fast.
