Chapter 1 Lesson 5

TermDefinition
skeletal system is made of bones, tendons, and ligaments.
muscular system the power to actually produce movement.
digestive system is a long tube in which food is broken down into nutrients an organism can use.
excretory system removes wastes from the body.
respiratory system is made of the lungs and passageways that lead to them.
circulatory system consists of heart and blood vessels.
nervous system includes the brain, the nerve cord, nerves, and sense organs.
endocrine system which has glands that produce hormones.
skeletal and muscular systems purpose help the animal move, without bones and muscles animals would not be able to move.
digestive and excretory systems purpose helps body break down food and help it turn it into nutrients for the body and then break it down into waste.
respiratory and circulatory systems purpose helps the body so it can circulate air around the body and for the air to give the heart carbon dioxide and pick up oxygen.
nervous and endocrine systems purpose these systems help an animal know when danger is coming, how to react, and change their body activity.
